Sympathetic resonance is a phenomenon where when an object vibrates with a frequency ( lets say vibrates in the note C) ,any object nearby with the same harmonic likeness ( a C note in this case, any octave) will vibrate on its own (subtly). This is mostly seen in stringed instruments (noticed it while playing guitar).
